Snowmobile Day

Snowmobile Day is a day to celebrate the snowmobiling community and begin preparations for the upcoming season. Snowmobile clubs, local dealers, associations, and snowmobile groups are invited to participate. Snowmobile Day is being patterned after the successful “SnÃķskoters Dag”, held in Sweden for over 45 years. The celebration in Sweden started in the 1970s and expanded rapidly through the 1980s as snowmobiling in Sweden expanded. The success of the event is traced to creating a fun...

PWOS Farewell

At the 2021 AGM for Prairie Women on Snowmobiles, an extensive discussion was held about the future of the organization. Since 2014 it has become harder to fill the rider positions, as well as the positions for the executive. In 2016 the length of the ride was shortened hoping that would help and in 2018 the number of riders required was also lowered. All of these adjustments did not help our situation. As a result, a resolution was made to dissolve Prairie Women on Snowmobiles. It was voted...

Take a friend snowmobiling 2022

Take a Friend Snowmobiling Week February 13-19, 2022 The Take a Friend Snowmobiling Campaign is all about introducing non-snowmobilers to our winter recreation of choice. Research has found that many people who do not snowmobile indicated they would be interested in trying snowmobiling, but don’t know where or how to start. One of the best ways to get these people onto a snowmobile is to simply have a friend who does snowmobile offer to take them out for a ride and show them what it’s all...

Club Article: Festival Postponed

The Nipawin snowmobile club, Twin Lakes Trail Blazers made the difficult decision to postpone the Provincial Saskatchewan Snowmobile Festival until 2023 due to the current Covid 19 environment. Although this year we had put a cap on registrations at 250 to try and keep everyone as safe as possible, the event has the potential to bring over 300 sledders to Nipawin. The economic benefit to our region, through accommodation, gas and food is substantial. The decision to postpone was difficult as...

RCMP Patrolling the Trails

Patrolling the Trails One of the most common complaints heard from clubs is why we don’t see more police on the trails. This has been going on for many years with little change. Inquiries have been made, meetings have been held, but yet we seldom see police of any kind on the trail. The current SSA board has been working on this for many years and have finally seen some progress in 2021 which will result in more police patrolling our...
