Mobile App Update 21-22

IMG_8527-1000x667

After a bit of a bumpy start, the Sask Snow trail map app should now be up and running as intended! We apologize to anyone who ran into the early season glitches, hiccups, and error messages. Much like grooming, that first pass can be a little rough. To those of you who may still be facing issues, we recommend you uninstall the app and then reinstall it fresh to ensure you have the latest version, complete with all the shiny new fixes! And remember, you may just need to turn the Trail/POI Status on by tapping the layer icon (looks like a stack of papers) and toggling the status on.

Should you have any issues please reach out to the app support by email at [email protected]

Read on to find out what the app developers (MapGears) have added this season, along with a brief run down of what the app is for those who have been living under a rock. As always I want to stress that the app is in no way required to travel our trail system. The interactive map is always available for free on our website, you can still find the PDF versions of each club’s map on their club page, and posted at every intersection and warm up shelter on the trail!

From Map Gears

New This Season

▹ Track your trips: leave breadcrumbs for easier backtracking, get statistics on your average speed and distance traveled, and much more!

▹ List your equipment: keep track of how much distance you covered with a specific vehicle and keep notes on each one.

What is the app?

The Saskatchewan Snowmobile Association (SSA) brings an enhanced version of its web application to your pockets, making for a better riding experience than ever. Working both with and WITHOUT mobile data coverage, you will be able to enjoy the app’s functionalities no matter where you are on the trails.

This app gives you access to the following *OFFLINE* features, anywhere, anytime, even in areas without cell coverage:

▹ See your location on the map through your phone’s GPS signal

▹ View nearby restaurants, gas stations, hotels, parking, and other services

▹ Access the trails conditions as per the last data connection available

▹ See the distance between you and a specific point

▹ Quickly save and load itineraries

Getting back to a zone with mobile coverage? Enjoy these additional *ONLINE* features :

▹ Keep an eye on updated trail statuses for the best riding experience

▹ Easily meet with friends by sharing your position with each other (no one else can see your location)

▹ Plan out an itinerary and share it with your group

Welcome to the Sask Snowmobile Trails 2020-21 mobile experience and enjoy the ride!

Note:

▹Continued use of the GPS and location sharing running in the background can significantly increase battery consumption. It is recommended to toggle it off when not needed to improve autonomy.

Interactive Map

The Interactive Trail Map is always available, FREE of charge on our website. The app provides you with the ability to continue using map features, even without internet connection, as well as a few other luxury features listed above.
